Ukulele for Guitar Players
The U4GP Playing Method
High-End / Low-End Swing
Whether it's "Johnny B Goode" or "I Will Always Love You", a song's rhythm always 'swings' between low-end beats (kick drum / bass guitar) and high-end beats (snare drum / hand clap).
In order to swing, a string instrument needs low-end and high-end strings. A guitar has this range 'out-of-the-box' but a standard Ukulele.... not so. This is where a Low G String comes into play.
In my videos I play a tenor sized Uke fitted with a Low G String. My low-end strings (G & C) are my kick drum / bass guitar and my high-end strings (E & A) are my snare drum / hand clap. When I play a song, like a drummer, I alternate between the two in time with the beat.
This clip shows all of this in practice
